Happy Sunday! Hope you all had a good weekend and were able to get out and get some exercise.  If you are on the east coast, you might not have been able to do much more than shovel snow from your driveways.  Here on the west coast, the spring rains continued to fall for most of the weekend.  Thankfully today was dry.

Here are a few weekly wins:

Rob and I had our first taste of what it is going to be like as ‘Empty Nesters.’  Alana is away on a school trip, so it was a quiet weekend with her gone.  Spencer was sick for part of the weekend with a stomach bug, so he stayed away from us while he recovered.  With no activities to run kids to, Rob and I spent time walking through Pacific Spirit Park in Vancouver (UBC).  It’s crazy how busy life gets and how easy it is to forget to reconnect with our partners. We had some amazing conversations about life, work, kids and the future.  There are exciting things coming our way!

I made my first appearance at the climbing gym on Thursday.  It was the first time in the gym since I fell and injured my ankle.  I still haven’t gone back to the gym I got hurt at in North Vancouver, but it felt good to be back at my ‘home’ gym in Coquitlam.  My physiotherapist gave me the go-ahead to try belaying but made me agree that I wouldn’t climb just yet.  Reluctantly I agreed. As soon as I stepped on the soft mats, I realized that I was in no position to climb even if I wanted to, and that belaying would be tricky.  Thankfully, our good friend and climbing partner S. was there with us, so Rob was able to have someone belay him.

“When you look at remarkable or successful individuals, I don’t mean monetarily successful; I mean people that are successful in achieving whatever they set out to do.  You find out that the thing they have in common is that they have nothing in common.”

Have a great week everyone!
