Weekly Win - 19
Happy Mother’s Day!
I’m starting this week’s Weekly Win honoring an important person in my life, my mom. Mom, I wouldn’t be the person I am today without your endless love and guidance through the years. Thank you for putting up with my nonsense as a teenager and for always being there when I needed you. You always supported me, even when you may not have agreed with my decisions. Life has been a great journey and having you as a mom, has made each step a little easier.
To Spencer and Alana, what can I say… Life would be boring without you two. There are days spent together that we don’t want to end and days that we count the minutes until we can get space from each other, but we always come together as a family. You have both grown into amazing people and I look forward to watching your journeys continue to unfold. Always be true to yourself, reach for the stars and never be afraid to push past your comfort zone!
Here are a few weekly wins for the week. These women are amazing people, fantastic mothers, and ladies who have incredible strength. Enjoy!
Tuesday, my friend Marnie tested for her first degree Black Belt. As you can imagine, these tests are not for the faint of heart. Three hours of non-stop testing, she demonstrated her amazing technique, performed two incredible Katas, sparred with her husband (he was testing for his Black Belt), completed one hundred spinning hook kicks (and finished first out of the group), two “No Fear” falls, took some tough punches, broke through boards like they were butter, all the while maintaining her composure, focus and determination. Congratulations Marnie! You are an inspiration!
I received exciting news this week that a friend is expecting her first child. She and her significant other have been hoping for this for a while, and I am thrilled that they will soon be welcoming a child into their lives.
This weekend is Climbing Escalade Canada (CEC) Lead, and Speed Nationals in Saanich, BC, and this win is for all the competitor’s moms. They are the drivers, the support crew, the food runners, the shoulder to lean on when things get tough, and the first to congratulate competitors coming off the wall, regardless of which team they are on, or their home province. Thank you to all the moms from Climb Base 5, The Edge Climbing, The Hive (Vancouver and North Vancouver), Cliffhanger, Rock Wall, Coastal, Ground Up, Project (Abbotsford and Cloverdale), Boulders (Victoria) for raising amazing kids who continue to help develop an incredible sport.
Have a lovely day. Take a few moments to reach out to your mom or to someone who has played a nurturing role in your life.
