Weekly Win - 18

Can you believe we have made it to May already! It feels like this year has just started and here we are already five months into the year.  We have been lucky enough to be getting some fantastic weather, unlike the last couple of years.  It looks like mostly sun for us this week. Bring on the short sleeve and shorts weather!

Here’s what was going on this week. Enjoy!

This weekend the whole TiterLeaf/Anderson clan attended the annual Cheakamus Center Open House in Brackendale (Squamish), BC. “Outdoor School” is a 165-hectare property located in Paradise Valley. An outdoor education center that students from North Vancouver school district go for multiday trips in grade 3, grade 4 (Big House), and grade 6 to experience working as a team, helping others, and learning about nature and the environment.

Every year, at the beginning of May, the Center hosts an open house and invites the community in to experience what the school has to offer. Visitors can release salmon fry into the cold rushing waters of the creek, take aim at archery, check out the cabins that house the students, stop at the Big House to cook Bannock, or pop into the dining area to check out the Silent Auction.

It’s exciting to see previous students proudly marching their family members around the grounds, sharing what they’ve learned with their loved ones.  Of course, this event would not be possible without the volunteers, many of which are North Vancouver high school students, giving back to the community and developing their leadership skills.  I highly suggest everyone check it out next year. It is open to the public, and you don’t have to be from North Vancouver or have children to attend.

In my personal development course, we worked on goals for the week and what is important to us.  The question of “What would you regret not doing, if you were at the end of your life?” can bring on some strong feelings but honestly, unless you ask yourself to look forward to that point, how can you make sure you do what you need to do.  I know that community is a BIG topic for me and my goals for this week surround that topic. Building community, volunteering my time, giving to others. That is a small part of what I’m working on this week.

Take a few moments to answer the question I posted above. What would you regret not doing in your life? Feel free to post an answer or send me an email at Kandice@kandiceleaf.com

Have a great week.
